Hey, everyone!
I've been pretty inactive lately, but I'm definitely being creative while I'm gone. This year I'm participating in my second year of NaNoWriMo.
My project this year is a Young Adult High Fantasy Fairy Tale Retelling of one of my favorite childhood fairy tales. This originally was not the project I was going to work on but this one grabbed ahold of me and demanded to be put in front of everything else.
Despite all of my outlining and planning (and knowing where ultimately the story needs to go) this story has pulled me in and poured out of me, surprising me in the most interesting ways. The goal of NaNoWriMo is to write 50,000 words by the end of November but I passed 50k last Friday (November 18). I'm now just passed the 55,100 mark after taking a little break over the weekend. I'm thinking I have maybe 5,000-10,000 more words left before this novel is finished but with what I expect to be a large chapter coming up, we'll see if it doesn't come out to just a little more than that. I'm really excited about this one, I really think it's one of the better projects I've put forth and definitely one of the ones I've been most passionate about.
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo? With about 8 days and 30 minutes left, how far are you into your project? Is the writing flowing or are you finding yourself stuck at a certain section? Either way, I know you can do it, so keep going!

The Novel That Will Never End
Happy January DA!
I hope you are all having a productive New Year so far! I've been busily working on my latest novel WIP since November. Actually, that's not true. I started Monsters & Mist in November 2017 and then with my moving and depression and everything else I set it aside for a while only to pick it back up for NaNoWriMo 2018. And I hit the 50k, but Monsters and Mist is nowhere near finished yet. I barely got time to work on it in December but now I'm getting back into the swing of things and taking some notes, jumping around and adding pieces here and there in the plot. I've set a January 31, 2019 deadline for the 1st draft t
Summer Vacation... or is it?
Hey guys!
I don't update my journal a lot on here and honestly I haven't been on here much other than to check notifications. One of my friends got me into this website about 6-7 years ago but I've lost interest over time. The past few months have been hard. My grandmother went into a nursing home, I had to move in with my mother, and my depression and anxiety were worse than ever robbing me of my desire to eat, read, or create in any format. Through therapy and medication I'm slowly trying to achieve my goals. My next book, Headless based on this poem is set to release on October 30, 2018, I've committed to an author event in a nearby town
Behind the Scenes
I know, I know... it never seems like I'm active on here. Honestly, I am up to a bunch of stuff, but not much worth sharing. This is what I'm working on lately:
:bulletblack: I run a book blog that I post on 3-4 times per week which takes up a huge chunk of my time.
:bulletred: Because of my blog I'm constantly reading and reviewing books (so far I've read 8 of my 30 book goal for 2017!)
:bulletblack: I post 2-3 pictures everyday on #bookstagram on Instagram (check out my pictures here: http://www.instagram.com/taylorfennerwrites)
:bulletred: I just finished up a book cover for an author which has taken up a good chunk of this month to wo

DARK FAIRY TALES
Fairy Tale retellings are hugely popular lately, especially in the literary world. So this Halloween season I want you to pick a fairy tale (any fairy tale, get creative and do some research... maybe you can unearth some obscure fairy tale that not many people remember) and give it a twist. Maybe Sleeping Beauty was put to sleep for the protection of the people. Perhaps the beast in Beauty and the Beast was a horrifying blood
